FBI sweep rescues 168 in child sex-trafficking bust; Arizona on list
PHOENIX -- The FBI said Monday it rescued 168 minors as part of a nationwide child sex-trafficking roundup. Arizona was on the list as a target.
The FBI's Phoenix office said Monday that local, state and federal law enforcement agencies targeted specific sites last week in multiple cities, from Phoenix to Yuma.
Special Agent Douglas G. Price says authorities have found five children and 42 adults who were being exploited for prostitution.
The arrests of almost 300 accused pimps and johns were made last week in 106 cities, 62 of them in Arizona. The bureau said was its largest bust since the program went into action in 2003.
