PHOENIX -- A 5-year-old girl was in critical condition after she was pulled from a Phoenix swimming pool.

Firefighters said the girl was swimming in a pool at a townhome community Thursday near 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road with other people and adult supervision.

They said she was under water for two to five minutes before she was found and pulled out.

A volunteer firefighter and another woman performed CPR on the girl before paramedics arrived. She had a pulse but was not breathing on her own when first responders transported her to the hospital.

An investigation is ongoing.
