Metro Phoenix mom accused of using son to shoplift

PHOENIX -- Police said a woman used her 12-year-old son to shoplift baby formula.

Local TV news reported Tuesday that witnesses said Gabrielle Fisher was hiding items in a diaper bag at a Walmart in Glendale near 51st Avenue and Indian School Road.

Police said she then gave the bag to her son and sent him outside with her 1-year-old son.

Authorities said they found the boys sitting alone at a bus stop.

According to court documents, officers went to Fisher's home and arrested her.

Fisher told police she stole because she had no formula for the infant. She also told officers she briefly looked for the children outside but didn't report them missing.

The boys were placed with Child Protective Services.

Fisher faced several charges including child abuse and shoplifting.
