PHOENIX — The Tucson Sector Border patrol arrested two motorists near the Mexico border for narcotics smuggling.
At approximately 10 a.m. Saturday morning, a white Saturn sedan with two occupants stopped at the State Route 85 checkpoint near Why, Ariz.
While both driver and passenger are U.S. citizens, both refused to answer any immigration questions. The car was directed to a secondary area after both occupants became argumentative.
A canine unit reacted to the trunk area of the sedan. Upon further inspection, authorities found 126 pounds of marijuana in the trunk, valued at about $63,000.
Both the drugs and vehicle were seized, and the two occupants will be prosecuted.
