Maricopa County Attorney calls for Attorney General Horne to resign
PHOENIX -- Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery said Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne has brought disgrace to his office and should step down.
Montgomery, who has previously said Horne should not seek re-election, made the remarks Wednesday about his fellow Republican.
Montgomery is supporting Horne's primary election opponent, former Arizona Department of Gaming director Mark Brnovich.
But Montgomery said if there were no challenger, he would rather support a write-in candidate.
Horne is accused of illegally working with an aide on outside ads targeting Horne's Democratic opponent before the November 2010 election.
The Arizona Republic reported that Horne said he is going to keep being attorney general and Montgomery is "losing relevancy."
