SACATON, Ariz. -- Authorities say a jail inmate has escaped from custody on the Gila River Indian Community during a medical appointment at a Sacaton hospital.

Tribal police say 29-year-old Francisco Gonzales was able to free himself from the restraints and escape on foot Wednesday.

Phoenix TV station KPHO reports that Gonzales was being held for local charges and had pending charges out of Maricopa County for aggravated assault and armed robbery.

Gila River police say Gonzales is considered dangerous and several law enforcement agencies are searching for him.
