MESA, Ariz. -- Authorities say they have recovered the body of a Phoenix man who drowned after jumping into the Salt River from a cliff.

Maricopa County Sheriff's Office spokesman Chris Hegstrom said divers found the body of 21-year-old Jwan Frazier on Saturday in the river in Mesa.

Hegstrom said Frazier was tubing down the Salt River with friends around 4 p.m. when he decided to jump from Mud Cliffs, which is about 15 feet high.

Witnesses said he resurfaced after the jump but appeared to struggle.

They said he went under again and did not reappear.

Authorities said it took divers about two hours to find him, and his body was in about 8 feet of water.
