New recreation trail in southern Arizona recognized

MARANA, Ariz. -- U.S. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell and the National Park Service are recognizing a new trail in southern Arizona.

Jewell is highlighting the Wild Burro Trail as part of Saturday's National Trails Day.

The Department of the Interior is recognizing 21 recreation trails in 11 states.

Jewell said the trails are easily accessible places for people to exercise and connect with nature.

The Wild Burro Trail is connected to the Tortola Mountains trail system, which is near the town of Marana.

The 6.3-mile trail is known as a vantage point for observing birds, saguaro cacti and other wildlife.
