Former Phoenix teacher gets probation in sex case
PHOENIX -- A former Phoenix high school teacher accused of soliciting sex with underage girls has been sentenced.
Maricopa County prosecutors said 54-year-old Jerry Marfe was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years' probation and 15 days in jail for one count of pandering.
Authorities said Marfe originally was arrested Dec. 6 on suspicion of two counts of prostitution with a minor.
He pleaded not guilty and was sentenced after reaching a plea agreement in the case.
Marfe was one of 111 people arrested in a massive prostitution and drug sting operation by the county Sheriff's Office.
Marfe taught in the Phoenix Union High School District for 27 years. He resigned after his arrest.
