AGUILA, Ariz. -- Authorities say three children have been injured after a Wickenburg School District bus collided with a passenger car on U.S. 60 near the small town of Aguila.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials said five children under the age of 13 and a driver were aboard the bus when the accident occurred about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

The severity of the children's injuries isn't immediately clear and their genders and ages weren't released.

DPS officials said the driver of the car is trapped inside the vehicle and is seriously injured and two other people in the car also are hurt.

Two medical helicopters landed at the scene to airlift the injured to hospitals.

DPS officials said it's still unclear how the crash occurred.

Aguila is about 20 miles west of Wickenburg.
