Slide Fire near Sedona reaches 100 percent containment

PHOENIX -- A wildfire burning near Sedona, Ariz., was fully contained Wednesday, weeks after the blaze began.

The human-caused fire burned a total of 21,227 acres in the scenic Oak Creek Canyon area.

At one point during the blaze, 3,200 residents in Kachina Village and Forest Highlands were waiting for an evacuation notice. That was later lifted. Some smaller areas and campgrounds were evacuated.

A Coconino National Forest spokesman said around 300 structures north of Slide Rock State Park were threatened by the fire at one point, including homes and businesses.

No structures were lost.

Firefighting efforts cost $10.1 million.
