MARICOPA, Ariz. -- In a story May 19 about a shooting in Maricopa, The Associated Press reported erroneously the relationship between the victim and the suspect. Police said the victim was the suspect's girlfriend, not his mother.

A corrected version of the story is below:

Authorities in Maricopa said a man has been arrested in the death of his girlfriend.

Miguel Daniel Tapia was arrested Sunday after police were called by a neighbor after Tapia told her to call 911 because a woman was dying.

Police found Tapia's girlfriend, Holly Berry, dead in the backyard with injuries to her face, abdomen and arms. There also was blood in the kitchen area leading to the backyard.
