TUCSON, Ariz. -- A pedestrian died Sunday evening after he was struck by a car northwest of Tucson.

The Arizona Daily Star reports ( ) that the 48-year-old man was crossing Ina Road near Shannon Road around 5 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 64-year-old man. Northwest fire spokesman Capt. Adam Goldberg says the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating.

The intersection is closed while Pima County sheriff's deputies investigate.
