KINGMAN, Ariz. -- Arizona authorities assisted two out-of-towners who were stranded three days in a remote area of western Arizona.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter said the couple from Las Vegas used a cellphone to contact authorities in neighboring La Paz County after their pickup truck got stuck in a wash.

The crew of a state Department of Public Safety helicopter responded, spotted the vehicle and directed search and rescue personnel to the site near Alamo Lake.

Carter said ground personnel freed the vehicle and the elderly couple, 78 and 69 years old, went on their way.

They were said to be in good health.
