Phoenix driver with suspended license arrested for fatal crash
PHOENIX -- A Phoenix man driving on a suspended license is accused of manslaughter in the death of his cousin in a high-speed crash.
Bond for Marcos Antonio Payan, 29, was set at $15,000 at his initial court appearance Thursday.
Phoenix police said Payan was arrested after his station wagon struck two trees and rolled over about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Payan apparently ran a red light at an intersection. His his vehicle was going about 80 mph.
Payan's cousin was riding in the front passenger seat and was ejected during the rollover. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Payan driver's license was suspended about eight years ago.
