PHOENIX -- Police said Tuesday that there was evidence that the deaths of a woman and 12-year-girl found in a home in Mesa were a murder/suicide.

Mesa authorities said the 45-year-old and her daughter suffered serious long-term medical conditions and that two notes were found at the home near McKellips and Ellsworth roads. A man reported the deaths Monday afternoon, saying he had gotten home to the gated community from work to find the bodies of his wife and daughter. Police said prescription drugs may have been involved.

Mesa Fire and Medical pronounced both dead at the scene.
