PHOENIX -- The Arizona Senate is scheduled to debate regulations for ride-sharing programs like Uber and Lyft.

The Senate will debate House Bill 2262 on Monday. The amended bill would place ridesharing companies in a separate category than traditional taxi companies and would not require Uber drivers have commercial liability insurance all times on the job.

A different proposed amendment would require drivers be insured at all times.

Traditional taxi and limo companies said Uber should be held to the same standards and that requiring drivers be insured at all times is a matter of public safety.

Uber said it shouldn't be subject to the same regulations as cabs because they do not pick up people from the street, but rather members of the service who request a driver.
