CHANDLER, Ariz. -- A Mesa man was accused of shooting a flare gun at his son-in-law and then trying to fatally stab the other man.
Chandler police said 66-year-old George Brown was arrested Saturday on suspicion of attacking Heston Carr at Carr's residence.
According to Sgt. Joe Favazzo, the incident occurred during a domestic dispute over alleged abuse of Brown's daughter.
Favazzo said an argument between the men got physical when Brown allegedly hit Carr in the face and then shot Carr with the flare gun. Brown also was accused of pulling a knife on Carr.
Paramedics treated Carr at the scene for a cut and for burns on his stomach from the flare.
Brown was jailed on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder and other crimes. Court records indicate he doesn't yet have a lawyer.
