Teen drivers indicted after fatal Phoenix crash

PHOENIX -- Two teenagers have been charged with manslaughter after a street-racing crash in Phoenix that police said caused the death of a landscaper.

Phoenix police said 61-year-old Octavio Grijalva Herrera died of his injuries Sunday after he was critically injured in the March 26 crash.

A 17-year-old boy apparently was racing a 16-year-old boy when the younger teen's car allegedly ran a stop sign. That touched off a five-vehicle collision.

An exterminator's pickup truck collided with a car before the truck went into a yard where the landscaper was working.

Police said the 16-year-old fled the scene after the crash but the other teen was detained for questioning.

Court records showed the teens also were indicted for drag racing, aggravated assault and numerous endangerment charges.
