Parents of Phoenix baby accused of abuse
PHOENIX -- Authorities said the 18-year-old parents of a year-old Phoenix baby are in custody accused of slapping, biting and pulling her hair.
Phoenix police said officers were sent to the home by the child's maternal grandparents.
Court documents released Monday show Abiezer Neftali Zuniga and Sandy Yesenia Aranda both are being held on suspicion of child abuse.
They are accused of abusing their baby daughter on multiple occasions from February 2014 to April.
At their initial court appearances Monday, Zuniga's bond was set at $75,000 and Aranda's bond was set at $5,000. Neither has an attorney yet.
After arriving at the family's home Saturday, police said they found the child with numerous bite marks and injuries.
Phoenix Fire Department paramedics were called to treat the girl.
