No verdict yet in Tucson car bomb case

PHOENIX -- Deliberations are set to resume Tuesday morning in the trial of a once-prominent Colorado socialite charged in the 1996 Tucson car-bomb killing of her ex-husband.

A Pima County Superior Court jury got the case Wednesday and deliberated Thursday and Friday.

Lawyers for Pamela Phillips argued their client had nothing to gain from the death of businessman Gary Triano, and that she was a successful real estate broker.

Prosecutors described her as a gold digger who hired a former boyfriend to kill Triano to collect on a $2 million life insurance policy.

Phillips pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

The ex-boyfriend was convicted in 2010 and sentenced to two life terms.

Triano died in November 1996 when his car exploded outside a Tucson country club.
