PHOENIX — A University of Arizona student died early Friday morning after an accidental fall from a residential building, campus police said in a release.
A witness told campus police that the victim, 19-year-old Michael Evan Anderson of Mission Viejo, Calif., fell while climbing a rooftop structure on the Colonia de la Paz residence hall about 3:55 a.m.
“He had fallen a distance of about 30 feet from a tower-like structure that’s attached to the building,” said UA Police Sgt. Filbert Barrera. “He slipped and fell.”
Firefighter responded and attempted resuscitation but Anderson, a freshman, was pronounced dead.
The school has made counselors available.
