PHOENIX -- Phoenix police said arrests have been made in connection with numerous gunshots fired outside a Phoenix high school on Jan. 31 as a basketball game was going on inside.

No one was hit, but the gunfire prompted tightened security on the campus of Cesar Chavez High School in southwest Phoenix.

No details have been released on the arrests but police said Gang Enforcement Unit detectives identified those involved.

Police Chief Daniel Garcia and Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery planned a Thursday afternoon news conference.

The city announced in February it would the Phoenix Union High School District money to hire additional school resource officers.
