PHOENIX -- A Valley gym donated $1,000 to the 100 Club of Arizona last week.

The gym decided to make the donation after the death of Phoenix Police Detective John Hobbs, who was killed in a shootout.

The donation was part of a promotion by Planet Fitness, who is working towards five million members nationwide. One gym member won $1,000 and a free membership for one year.

The 100 Club of Arizona provides financial assistance and other aid to the families of first responders who are killed on the job.
