PHOENIX — Fairy godmothers do exist and they’re giving away prom dresses at the Cinderella Affair in Tempe on Saturday.
The project, run by the East Valley’s Women’s League, the City of Tempe and the Tempe Community Council, starts at 9 a.m. at the Pyle Adult Recreation Center (Tempe Library complex) at Rural Road and Southern Avenue.
This marks the 13th year for the event, the goal of which is to make prom season more affordable for teens and their families.
A couple thousand new and gently-used formal dresses, plus accessories, are available to high school juniors and seniors from anywhere in the Valley. They must bring valid school ID. Shopping ends at 5 p.m.
