PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- Prescott officials have begun making plans to mark the June anniversary of the deaths of 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots in the Yarnell Hill Fire.
The Daily Courier reported the city is planning a bell-ringing ceremony in the historic downtown Courthouse Square but asking other local churches to ring their bells as well.
The Arizona Republic reported officials will also coordinate events with local churches and private organizations to honor the firefighters and their families on June 30.
City spokesman Pete Wertheim said the names of the firefighters will be read and the courthouse bell will ring 19 times at 4:42 p.m., the time it's believed the crew died.
Officials will also re-air the memorial service from last July on local cable channels.
All but one of the 20 Hotshots on the Prescott-based crew died in the fire on June 30, 2013.
