PHOENIX -- A man was found dead in Mesa early Thursday morning and police are investigating it as a homicide.

Officers closed off the area near Main Street and Stapley Drive. A pedestrian saw the body in the street around 6 a.m. and called 911.

Police would only say the body showed signs of trauma but not the sort associated with a hit-and-run. Two bicycles were found near the victim.

No other details were immediately available.,
