Key Arizona Republicans say negotiations are at an impasse

PHOENIX -- A group of Republicans say negotiations with their own party leaders over Arizona's proposed $9.2 million budget are off.

The Arizona House of Representatives has stalled voting on a Senate-approved budget proposal for three days after party leaders and others in the Republican-controlled House failed to agree on a number of provisions.

Six of those Republicans told reporters on Wednesday that negotiations are at an impasse over education and CPS funding.

Democrats also oppose the budget.

The members who have blocked votes say they are concerned about funding for a new child welfare agency and a provision retroactively stopping school districts from converting schools to charters.
