Arizona tribal casino gaming revenue up slightly

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- A report showed that American Indian casinos in Arizona posted an increase in gaming revenue in 2012 despite having fewer slot machines and table games.

Casino City's Indian Gaming Industry Report released Wednesday shows the casinos brought in more than $1.8 billion in 2012. That's a 3 percent increase over 2011.

The number of table games and slot machines dropped in the same period by 23 and 203, respectively.

The report by economist Alan Meister showed that revenue at Indian casinos nationally is at an all-time high of $28.1 billion.

Fifteen Arizona tribes were operating 22 casinos in the state in 2012. The Navajo Nation opened its first Arizona casino east of Flagstaff in May 2013.
