PHOENIX — Authorities said a shoplifting suspect shot and wounded by Phoenix police faced 11 counts of retail theft.
Police said 34-year-old Rodney McCullough suffered a gunshot wound to his right shoulder area.
Officers responded to a report of shoplifting at a north Phoenix Walmart last Friday night. The suspect fled when he saw a uniformed store security person.
He got into his car and was trying to drive away when an officer punched the driver's door window out.
The policeman's arm got caught in the window and he was dragged for several feet until he broke free and fired his handgun once.
McCullough was found Saturday at a Phoenix apartment. Police said he may be linked to several other store thefts of electronic equipment.
