Phoenix to launch reward-for-play program
PHOENIX -- Phoenix will officially launch a citywide reward-for-play program Saturday.
David Urbinato with the city said the One Million Hours of Play program will kick-off Saturday during an event at Cesar Chavez Park.
"Kids can actually get into some of the games," he said. "There will be demonstrations that kids can join so it's also a way to explore what sports your kids are actually interested in."
The program encourages kids to get out and play then record the amount of time in a special book. After they do, they can redeem their hard work for small treats.
"Each month, they can bring their play book into a center and get small prizes," said Urbinato.
Kids that compete the play commitment are entered into a grand prize contest for a trip to Disneyland in California.
