Police arrest suspect of at least 4 Phoenix bank heists
PHOENIX -- Authorities said a suspect is in custody in connection with at least four bank robberies in the downtown Phoenix area since last month.
Phoenix police said 60-year-old John Timothy Miller has been booked into jail on suspicion of several counts of bank robbery.
Miller was arrested in 1988 for robbing 11 banks across multiple states, authorities said and again in 1999 for 16 bank robberies in the Phoenix metro area.
Police detectives and a FBI task force began surveillance on downtown Phoenix banks and saw the suspect park his bicycle and enter a bank on Monday.
They said Miller allegedly presented a demand note to a teller and was arrested as he was leaving the bank.
