MESA, Ariz. -- Authorities have released the name of a man killed after his motorized scooter collided with a truck driven by a teenage boy in west Mesa.

Mesa police said the victim was 22-year-old Mason Merrill and the unidentified teen appeared to have only had a learner's permit to drive.

Police said the 15-year-old could be facing charges for fleeing the scene after the Wednesday afternoon accident.

They said the teen showed no obvious signs of impairment and has been returned to the custody of his parents pending possible charges and that other juveniles also were in the truck.
