MESA, Ariz. -- Authorities say a man is dead after his motorized scooter collided with a truck driven by a 15-year-old boy in west Mesa.

Mesa police say the unidentified teen appears to have only had a learner's permit to drive and could be facing charges for fleeing the scene after the Wednesday afternoon accident.

Police say the 15-year-old has been taken into custody in the hit-and-run crash but showed no obvious signs of impairment.

They say other juveniles also were in the truck at the time of the fatal collision.

The name of the 22-year-old man who was killed hasn't been released yet.
