Nearly a dozen abused horses found on Buckeye property
BUCKEYE, Ariz. -- Maricopa County sheriff's deputies have seized nine abused or neglected horses from a property in Buckeye.
They said one of the horses is a Clydesdale that is underweight by as much as 800 pounds.
Deputies served a search warrant on the property about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday after MCSO received a letter about the conditions of the animals.
They found 11 horses on the property and nine were taken for treatment.
Those horses will be taken by the sheriff's office as evidence or to be put up for adoption.
Sheriff's officials said the owner of the horses will face an undetermined number of animal cruelty charges.
Deputies said 13 dogs and a goat were also found on the property, but weren't seized. Some dogs needed medical attention.
