WINTERSBURG, Ariz. -- Emergency responders are holding a preparedness exercise for an evacuation from the vicinity of the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station west of Phoenix.

The state Division of Emergency Management said the exercise being staged Wednesday involves responders from state, local and volunteer agencies.

They'll be using Youngker High School in Buckeye at Apache and West Lower Buckeye roads to practice setting up evacuee reception center operations.

The division said this gives participating agencies a chance to refine their procedures and train new employees and volunteers.
