GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Eight female inmates at the state prison in Perryville escaped injury after the van they were riding in was rear-ended near Goodyear.

Authorities said the accident occurred Tuesday morning and the driver who rear-ended the van suffered minor injuries.

The prisoners were on their way to a work site near Goodyear when the van was hit from behind by a car.

Arizona Department of Corrections officials said the prisoners were put on another van after the accident and taken back to the state prison complex west of Phoenix.
