Woman pleads not guilty in death of Mesa man
MESA, Ariz. -- A 20-year-old woman has pleaded not guilty in the death of a 54-year-old Mesa man.
A Maricopa County Superior Court spokeswoman said Judith Elaine Walthers entered her plea Monday.
She's charged with first-degree murder in the death of Kevin Worzalla.
She also faced charges of burglary, trafficking in stolen property, escape and theft of means of transportation.
Worzalla's family told police Feb. 4 that he hadn't been heard from for a week and asked them to conduct a welfare check.
Officers then found Worzalla dead inside his home with signs of trauma. Police say his vehicle and other property were missing from his apartment.
Police said Walthers had been staying with Worzalla and her DNA was found on bloody items located at the crime scene.
