Phoenix to host screening of 'Cesar Chavez' film

PHOENIX -- A Hollywood film about farm labor leader Cesar Chavez will have a premiere in Phoenix.

The Cesar Chavez Foundation said "Cesar Chavez" will screen at the Orpheum Theater in downtown Phoenix on Thursday.

Organizers said among those expected to attend are actor Diego Luna ("Y Tu Mama Tambien,'' ``Milk''), who directed the film, and Chavez's son, Paul.

Michael Pena plays the titular role in the movie, which opens March 28. The cast also includes Rosario Dawson, America Ferrera ("Ugly Betty'') and John Malkovich.

Supporters of Chavez, who was born in Arizona, have recently pushed new ways to honor him.

The National Park Service last year recommended to Congress that a park be created in his name.
