PHOENIX -- A Thursday barbecue held for slain Phoenix Police Det. John Hobbs and wounded Det. AJ Casados raised more than $100,000 for their families, a law enforcement agency said.

The Phoenix Law Enforcement Association said it ran out 1,000 hamburgers and 1,000 hot dogs in the first 45 minutes of the cookout. It ran out two more times after that.

At one point, the line for food was more than an hour long.

PLEA originally hoped to raise $30,000 to give to the families.

Hobbs will be buried Monday. His funeral procession will close a Valley freeway for several hours.

Casados was released from the hospital Wednesday and is expected to make a full recovery.

Both detectives were injured in a Monday shooting while attempting to arrest a known felon. The suspect was killed in the shooting.
