PHOENIX -- The former boyfriend of an Arizona woman accused of fatally bludgeoning her husband with a hammer is scheduled to resume his testimony Monday.
Allen Flores began testifying more than a week ago at the trial of Marissa Devault.
He testified that Devault told him a few weeks before the January 2009 attack that she wanted to hire a hit man to kill her husband, Dale Harrell, at a casino hotel.
Prosecutors say Devault instead killed Harrell several weeks later in their home in Gilbert in an attempt to get an insurance settlement to repay nearly $300,000 in loans from Flores.
Devault claims her husband was physically abusive and maintains that she killed Harrell in self-defense.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
