PHOENIX -- Former Chandler City Councilman Martin Sepulveda is dropping out of the Republican primary for Arizona Treasurer.

Sepulveda is a commander in the Naval Reserves assigned to the Pentagon. He said in a statement released by his campaign Wednesday that a new assignment will keep him out of the state for extended periods in the run-up to the Aug. 24 primary. That will stop him from campaigning in the statewide race so he's dropping out.

Others still in the race for the GOP nomination include former Arizona Republican Party chair Randy Pullman and former Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman.
