Human remains found at Grand Canyon National Park

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. -- Officials at Grand Canyon National Park said rangers have recovered skeletal remains from the Hermit Creek drainage area.

Authorities said the remains have been confirmed as human by the Coconino County Medical Examiner's Office.

Park rangers said the remains were discovered in an area with abandoned camping gear that may be associated with the disappearance of a Tucson man in 2010.

They said DNA testing is being conducted to positively identify the remains.

No additional information on the 2010 case was immediately available Tuesday.

Officials said an investigation is being conducted by the National Park Service and the county medical examiner.
