PHOENIX -- Authorities said a transient has been arrested on charges of breaking into a Phoenix home and sexually assaulting a woman at knifepoint.

Phoenix police said 36-year-old Conrado Lopez-Moreno is being held on suspicion of sexual assault, aggravated assault and first-degree burglary.

The unidentified 27-year-old victim told police that she woke up around 3:15 a.m. on Jan. 5 and found a stranger with a knife trying to sexually assault her.

Police said the woman's boyfriend was asleep in the same bed. He woke up and fought with the suspect, who managed to escape.

Police said evidence collected and submitted to a crime lab identified Lopez-Moreno as a suspect.

He was located Sunday and booked into jail.
