PHOENIX -- An early-morning fire Friday caused a great deal of damage to a Phoenix home, but the family inside was able to get to safety thanks to their dog.

A family of four, including a 95-year-old woman, was wakened by their dog's frantic barking at their home near Seventh Street and Northern Avenue.

The garage was destroyed along with two cars. Fire investigators haven't released the cause. The blaze was contained to the one house.
