APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. -- A married couple has been found dead in their Apache Junction home and authorities say it appears to be a murder-suicide.

Apache Junction police say the bodies of 51-year-old Brett "Kelly" Armstrong and 47-year-old Laurel "Laurie" Armstrong were discovered Tuesday.

The cause of death wasn't immediately released, but Apache Junction police investigators told The Arizona Republic that they believe Brett Armstrong killed his wife before taking his own life.

Laurie Armstrong was the executive director for the Apache Junction branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley.

Authorities say the couple had been married for more than 20 years.

Pinal County Superior Court records show Laurie Armstrong filed a divorce petition last November. The status of the case was unclear Wednesday.
