LAS VEGAS -- Authorities in Las Vegas say a male renter who faced eviction is jailed on a murder charge after a body believed to be his 53-year-old landlord was found in the Arizona desert.

Records showed Wednesday that 52-year-old Edward Norman Kopp is due for an initial appearance Thursday in Las Vegas Justice Court in the slaying of Sheila Linke.

Police say Linke was last seen Jan. 26, the day she texted a co-worker at the Las Vegas Water Reclamation District to say she was handling a difficult eviction of Kopp and his girlfriend, Kathy Atteberry.

A police report says Kopp told police he killed Linke after she attacked him with a knife, and that he and Atteberry left the body near White Hills, Ariz.

Atteberry hasn't been charged with a crime.
