TEMPE, Ariz. — There’s a new place to get fresh food for many in the southeast Valley. The Tempe Community Market is on the brink of opening.
“The idea is to support local farmers, growers and micro-businesses,” said Cindy Gentry, the Encore Fellow Market Manager with Tempe Community Action Committee. “Bring community together around opportunities to live sustainably, access healthy food and contribute to the local economy.”
The new market will be open every Sunday, starting March 2, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“This idea is it will be an affordable venue, and an educational venue,” she said. “So we’ll have information and people there doing classes and demonstrations on how to grow your own.”
It’s located under the Loop 202 bridge at 620 N. Mill Avenue.
