Ariz. conservationists to fete 'Environmental Day'
PHOENIX -- More than 140 people are expected to go green at the Arizona State Capitol.
Conservationists and other environmental advocates representing 24 different legislative districts plan to meet with lawmakers Tuesday for Environmental Day.
The theme for this year's event is "Conserve Arizona -- Water, Wildlife & Wildlands."
Volunteers will focus on bills involving issues such as the endangered Mexican wolves, State Parks Heritage Fund, historic preservation and green building codes.
Participants will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the Historic Senate Chambers of the Capitol Museum to hear remarks from Clarkdale Mayor Doug Von Gausig.
After spending the morning with legislators, volunteers will attend an interfaith prayer vigil on the Senate Lawn at 12:30 p.m.
