PHOENIX -- Phoenix police said a 16-year-old boy is in critical condition after someone opened fire from a vehicle outside his home.

Police spokesman James Holmes said officers were called around 8:30 p.m. Saturday to reports of a shooting on West Campbell Avenue near 55th Avenue.

Holmes said police found he teen had suffered a gunshot wound and he was taken to a hospital.

Investigators said the boy was standing on the south side of the street when a Kia heading eastbound stopped and someone called the victim over to the car.

Police said he was shot while approaching the car.

Holmes said the three people in the Kia are described as male and possibly Hispanic.

No arrests have been made.
